It's the end, folks!

The goal of this project was to blog everything I ate and the cost of food and drinks for a full year. The year is now over, so it's time to put down my camera. I wanted to take some time before writing a conclusion to this adventure. I was not easy, but I did have lots of fun.

I took 3366 pictures
I spent 10 295.92 $ on food and drinks
I forgot my camera at home about seven times, sometimes asking friends to take pictures for me.
I got asked "why do you do this?" at least twice a year.
I learned how to take pictures without annoying others. It's all about stealth.
I almost quit about five times. But I never gave up.
I realised that I drink way, way too much Diet Coke.
I figured out that I don't go out as much as I tought I did, but that I spend more money that I tought I did when I do.
I found out that 60% of the broccoli I purchase ends up in the garbage bin.
I saw that I like peanut butter on toast a lot.

I also gained a lot of weight. I guess I wanted to produce more content and so ate more than I usualy do - and I have a big appetite to start with. So now I have to lose that poundage. Bah! Oh well.

So what next? I don't know yet. But I still take pictures of food and post them on my Flickr account. And I love to eat and explore. So follow me on Twitter and find out about my next project when it goes live. I promise it will be delicious.

Later, I had a few ears of corn with butter.

Aaah the taste of summer.

FINALLY I went to Dim Sum in Montréal with a bunch of friends from work. I can't believe it took so long. I've been here for 18 years!! My friend Laurent chose the spot, a place called Kam Fung that he and his bride-to-be love. It was awesome. We all went into a feeding frenzy as soon as we sat down.

We picked plates after plates and it all came down to $18 a head, tip included. Delicious AND cheap!

I don't know the real name of every dish for sure, so I'm just going to quickly describe all the tasty bits we ate.

My friend Céline and I had a nice day together. I took her out to brunch and then we went to the market to buy a few things for a Lemon Curd cooking clinic we had planned.

Golden dark chocolate sphere filled with a foie gras mousse of sort. Amazingly original.

HUGE platter of mixed seafood for one, including razor clam, oyster, fried calamari, snow crab, a scallop and a giant scampi. (sorry about the shaky pics, it was dark and romanticaly lit in there and I tried my best)

With the entrée, we had a bottle of Aquinas Pinot Noir.

I have to share that we let our waiter Fred decide on the wine all evening long, and his choices were spot-on.

Pre-dessert: a refreshing shooter filled with a fresh raspberry, vodka, a jelly cube of sort and fruity liquid

I am not very good at describing how delicate and aromatic this was. Summer in a shooter glass.
Mixed dessert plate : lots of good stuff including butter cookies with jam, molten chocolate cake, caramelized bananas, coffee-chocolate lollipops with Bailey's, rapsberry and verbena creams, and some crunchy- caramely sweet thing.

For dinner, I was invited by my friend Caroline. She lives downstairs, in the same building as I do. I had lots of watermelon left, so I brought some and she turned it into a nice cocktail. We munched on the other pieces of fruit as she prepared the main dish.

Caroline was inspired by one of the famous dishes from local vegetarian restaurant Aux Vivres, only she replaced the tofu by chicken.

The rest is brown rice, carrots, cabbage, edamame and a lovely, yeasty vinaigrette. It was divine and perfect for a hot and humid day like we were having.
And for dinner, a refreshing organic root beer and Amarula float.
