It deserved to wear Lindsay's tiara for a minute.

My friend JF, who just spent 3 weeks in Japan and who is awesome, brought me back two green tea Kit Kat bars.

The coffee machine exploded on me and a few other innocent tea drinkers who were just waiting around to fill their cups with hot water. Imagine the look of this cup times 256 and you'll get the effect it had on my shirt. And shoes. And face.

Then it was time for lunch.

Food log: Sunday, October 4

Woke up late after a weird night of weird dreams, which I won't go into right now, because what is more boring than having to hear about someone else's dreams?

Instead I'll tell you about what I ate today.

It started with my AM Diet Coke, to wake me up from those dreams I won't bore you with. Ok, it involved kayaking away from a bear, but I won't tell you more.

My brother came to meet us at the loft then we all went to Les Cabotins, a really kooky restaurant 5 minutes away from my place. Step-dad was treating us all to brunch. Thanks, Richard!

Back home, I made that pie I didn't have time for last night. Since I've been having a Carl Sagan fixation ever since this awesome song  came out, I used this recipe . It. Is. AMAZING.

Food log: Saturday, October 3

Today was clean the loft day. I've been too busy to even take the recycling down to the bins so it was much needed. Plus, Mom and Richard (her lovely husband) were coming around for dinner before going to the opera (they are from Quebec City and are crashing at my place). I woke up super early and really famished.

They loved the otsu! In fact, they raves about it. It was as good as the last time. I could not get a picture of them where they were not stuffing their faces!

The cheese was delicious, a perfect ending.

Yummy vid

Spanglish is a very lame movie, but it has a great foodie moment, where Adam's Sandler's character prepares the best-looking BLT-egg sandwich ever. It was created by chef Thomas Keller, of Bouchon and French laundry fame. Watch the vid to learn how to make one for yourself tonight!
