Food log: Wednesday, May 12

I had the same breakfast as yesterday. (no pic)

I took a wonderful tour of Chinatown. We ate flat fortune cookies at the bakery where they were invented.

She made them, I ate them
For lunch, we had dim sum. It was included in the price of the tour. It's great to eat in Chinatown with a guide to explain everything and teach us some ordering tricks and chinese etiquette. For example, if you lift the lid of the tea pot, it means "please add some more". (Click on each photo to identify each dish)

I came back to Chinatown later that day for an afternoon break at Empress of China. The restaurant is like a time capsule, kitsch but classy at the same time. It's a great deal, everything is 30% off during happy hour.

Caught a baseball game at the AT & T stadium and ate some overpriced yet delicious hot dogs and nachos, as well as a coupe of beers. The Giants lost. But junk food tastes so much better in a sports arena.

I had a glass of wine while resting my feet.

I had dinner at Foreing Cinema in the Mission district. This place is amazing, with a large patio showing movies every night, and an indoor room with large windows. But the food is so delicious, who cares about the flick? Service was excellent. I even got an extra appetizer, on the house. Maybe taking pictures of my food and knowing about wine is finally paying off. Or they just had extra. Heh! Either way, I had one of my best meals of the year so far at this place.

I bought LOTS of bagels for myself and for a Flickr friend I'm meeting in San Franciso. I wanted him to have enough for his family, so I got him a dozen sesame and half a dozen "everything". I hope the oniony smell doesn't get me in trouble with the sniffing dogs at the airport.

That's pretty much it. It's past 9 pm and I'm too excited to eat much more than that. My plane leaves at 9 tomorrow for San Francisco. Time for a vacation! You can expect interesting blogs in the next ten days.
