Peanut butter toasts

Leftover tilapia, coriander rice, yogurt, Diet Coke ($1.25)

A dance of the dead was going on at our table, as people rejected the bitter greens from the bistro salad in a soup bowl. I topped it with a bruised tomato, for a touch of class.

Chips and Diet Coke ($2.50)

Post-pool crackers and spaghetti with meat sauce

Food log - Monday, October 19
I had a loooong Monday at work, filled with new projects, then a 4-hour board meeting at my bulding, so you'll forgive me for this belated log.
Peanut butter toast

Spaghetti squash gratin, snow peas, carrots and yogurt from home
Diet Coke from the vending machine #1.25

I'm so happy about how my version of this dish. I used feta instead of cottage cheese and baby spinach instead of chard. It's savory and filling.
Pecan fudge from the bistro - free

Decadent! Simply decadent!
Crackers

Tilapia with chile-lime butter, rice with coriander, salad

This is a recipe I found on Epicurious and it's damn tasty. Julia Child was right about butter. It's the secret of life. (Until it kills you.)
Cookie

Post-meeting cheesy toasts with Sheldon

4-hour long board meetings make Eve a hungry girl.

Food log: Sunday, October 18
First, I'd like to add a few things to yesterday's log. I cracked open my bottle of Sazerac and had a bit on ice. It was warm and spicy. Yummy.

I also made some pumpkin soup. To make it, first I had to kill the pumpkin, roast it and chop up its body.

I did not take a picture of the soup, so you'll have to wait for me to eat some before seeing it. I made it with the veggie broth I made previously, some onions, cream and curry powder. I froze half and also froze a big bag of roasted pumpkin cubes.
OK, so about today.
Egg and cheese muffin at home

Toasts and milk at home

Corn fritters and veggie again

They reheat well in the oven. Crunchy!
I had an IGA delivery ($140 with tip) and stopped at the market for some limes, cereals and fresh herbs ($10.55)
Pretzels

Absolut Boston tea party martini

Spaghetti and The Amazing Race

Homemade cookies

I made these with chocolate chips AND a little bit of peanut butter chips. I feel like I should have grandchildren to feed them to.

I would like to start with a formal complaint about this can of syrup.

Now what the heck is that pink label? Where is the traditionnal red, blue and brown forest? Why does my syrup look like a kid's storybook? I am not amused. BOOOOO!
Allright, on with the food.
Peanut butter toasts at home

Oysters and pickles at home

I had this with crackers and a curry mayo. I also had a handful of pretzels.
The afternoon was spent cooking. First, I made a delicious spaghetti squash gratin.

This was meant for freezer lunches.

I like to make a few meals from scratch and freeze them. It saves me from Michelina Hell!
I also made a huge pot of vegetable stock.

For this stock, I used zucchinis, carrots, onions, garlic, green onions, and celery. I also added some herbs and salt, and a few kernels of pepper. But my secret is to drop a Parmesan rind in there for extra flavor. Some of this will be turned into pumpkin soup. The rest will go - you guest it - into the freezer.
For dinner, I made the most amazing and delicate corn fritters.

This was my first time making corn fritters. They are super easy to make and delicious with some fresh veggies, some sour cream and a splash of hot sauce.
Now it is time to go watch Angelina Jolie say "THIS IS NOT MY SON" a thousand time while drinking the other half of yesterday's bottle of wine.
